A Time for Giving
The Mayor’s toy appeal assembly was another great success this year. The Mayor, Councillor David Neve, introduced to the children at his request as Mayor Dave, and his wife Jill were amazed at the generosity and number of the presents.
Mayor Dave shared with us some stories of his childhood favourite toys and how today’s most popular toys were, on average, about £50 each. This is unreachable for many families in the area. Last year 205 children were helped and able to have some Christmas presents when they would not have been able to have any at all. Karen Collins, the new coordinator of the Toy appeal, also thanked the children and, most importantly, you the parents for your kindness. We were also treated to a chorister carol which was beautiful and started the whole Christmas season off for us all.
