Hilden Grange School


All parents of children currently at the school, and all staff are members of the Hilden Grange Association. 

The HGA Committee is made up of parents and members of staff.  We organise not only fund raising activities, but also social events to encourage interaction of parents from all years.  In addition to the committee, every child has a Form Representative.  The Form Reps. provide a communication channel for any ideas or suggestions that you might want to put to the school and also provide invaluable assistance in the organisation of the Christmas and Summer Fairs.

It’s been another busy year for the HGA. We kicked off the 2016/17 calendar with our annual fundraiser for Macmillan. A decent coffee generously donated by Starbucks and a pastry to go certainly helped soften the blow of getting back to the school run. This was swiftly followed by the Comedy Night which gave everyone the opportunity to enjoy good food, drink and have a jolly good laugh at the same time.

Fireworks Night proved very popular once again, the display was fantastic and the children enjoyed the games, candy floss and the chance to buy various flashing trinkets.

Burns Night returned to the HGA calendar this year to help see in 2017 in style. We were treated to a wonderful dinner of haggis, neeps and tatties, with the haggis traditionally piped into the room. The Ode to the Haggis followed and of course, the hilarious Toasts to the Lassies and Laddies before we descended to the Gracey Hall for a ceilidh. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and left well fed, watered and utterly exhausted!

In addition to the regular school discos for the children, we launched a new Children’s Movie Night. Over 200 children were fed pizza and popcorn before settling down in their onesies and sleeping bags to watch their choice of film. It proved a real hit so has earned a place on the regular HGA calendar going forward.

Our annual Quiz Night bought out the competitive spirit and stretched our grey cells. In a new twist, we were challenged to see if we were smarter than an HG pupil as volunteers from Years 6 upwards set a round of questions. They were incredibly tough and in some cases not a single person could answer them correctly!

Both the fairs proved great successes and we were (mostly!) lucky with the weather. The children enjoyed bucking reindeer, snowboard simulators, zorb balls and bouncy assault courses, not to mention the various games stalls, tombolas and of course the infamous jam-jars.

Thanks to everyone who attended and supported our events. We have managed to raise an incredible £20,000 towards the amazing new EYFS Outdoor Learning Area that has recently been installed. This is in addition to the regular contributions we make to events like Creative Arts Week, The Pre-Prep Christmas Entertainment, and the Leaver’s Parties and presents.

None of the above would be possible without the HGA Committee members and an army of parent volunteers who are so incredibly generous with their time and efforts. Together we organise, bake, cook, clean, tidy and lug tables. We are also very grateful for the help provided by the staff in the School Office and all the Grounds Staff who are endlessly patient with our many requests for assistance. We simply couldn’t do it without you all.

We will be back with more fantastic events in 2017/18, including another ‘first’ for Hilden Grange – an amazing Big Top Family Circus. Here are just a few highlights to put in your diaries:
