A Flipping Fun Lesson
To celebrate Pancake Day, Year 4 learnt about the similarities and differences between Pancake Day in the UK and La Chandeleur in France.
They discovered that the French serve crêpes on 2 February to remember when Jesus was first presented at the temple by Mary. They then enjoyed a traditional activity of holding a coin in their writing hand and flipping a crêpe (or beanbag!) in the other. Those who were successful will enjoy prosperity for the rest of the year! Finally, the children learnt about Mardi Gras (‘Fat Tuesday’) and its associated traditions.
