Celebrations for Chinese New Year
There was a host of activities in the Pre-Prep last week to mark Chinese New Year, stsrting with a special assembly in which a group of our children explained how they would be celebrating the event.
Nursery children have been very busy, baking biscuits in the shape of rats, creating lucky gold coins and beautiful dragons for a special display. Reception children spent a week exploring the culture and art of China, including making dancing dragons and painting Chinese Blossom pictures. One of our parents came to talk to the children and made paper lanterns with them. Year 1 were also lucky enough to have a visit from one of our parents who taught the children about Chinese culture, helping them produce some beautiful Chinese writing and make marzipan rats, to mark the Year of the Rat. Each child in the Pre-Prep was also thrilled to receive a delicious home-made dumpling.
