European Languages Day
On Friday September 28th we celebrated the diversity of languages and culture in Europe in our annual European Day of Languages. Each year group in the Prep School had been allocated a country as their focus and came to school brightly dressed, either in the colours of their country’s flag, or in national costume.
The Pre-Prep joined us for a whole school assembly which was a wonderfully entertaining occasion. Days of the week were recited in French, Italian, Spanish and German by Years 3 to 6, while the senior pupils had learnt numbers in Russian and Greek. Performances included songs in French and Italian, a quiz about life in Spain, a German lesson, a presentation of fascinating facts about Russia and a grand finale of Zorba the Greek’s Dance, very well attempted, by Year 8!
It was a lively, fun filled occasion and I would like to thank not only the staff who worked so hard to prepare the children for their activities but also the children themselves for their enthusiastic participation and efforts to learn some different languages.
Brexit or not, we look forward to doing it all again next year!
