Pupils from Hilden Grange have achieved one of the school’s best ever scholarship hauls. Of the 21 scholarships awarded by Tonbridge School, one third of these have been won by Hilden Grange pupils. The highly prestigious Ainslie scholarship, awarded to the pupil with the highest overall mark, was won by a Hilden Grange pupil, and remarkably three of his classmates followed him in second, third and fourth places in the scholarship list, with all coming in the top 14.
In addition to the academic scholarships there was also a Junior Foundation Scholarship for a Year 6 pupils, and a further four Hilden Grange pupils were awarded Tonbridge Music Scholarships and the Cowdrey Sports Scholarship. There have also been six other scholarships awarded to Hilden Grange pupils applying to other independent schools including a Drama Scholarship to Haileybury, Sports Scholarships to Benenden and Sutton Valence, and Music Scholarships to King’s Rochester and Hurstpierpoint. This brings the total number of scholarships gained to 19.
John Withers, Headmaster of Hilden Grange School commented, “Competition for scholarships at these prestigious schools is fierce with many outstanding candidates and this is an absolutely amazing set of results. I am very, very pleased and proud of all the pupils and staff who have worked so hard to achieve these results, and their parents who have provided valuable support.”
